GlucoRX Nexus TD-4277 Turning Off

Hi

I have just been given a GlucoRX Nexus TD-4277, but I am having a problem with it. I dont if anyone else on here has had this issue.

When I insert the test strip, the meter switches on, showing all of the icons, for about 1 second. Then the big OFF sign comes up and it turns off.

I have tried 2 different containers of strips, but its not changing anything.

Can anyone give me any insight here, or do I have a faulty meter?

Sounds like a faulty meter. Has it ever worked? Can you swap the batteries with some high load alkaline batteries such as Duracell?

I got to this stage and decided there was nothing to lose by cleaning the strip contacts. I used water and a brush and cleaned inside the slot inside. I then used a tissue to dry. It worked. I am guessing that some blood must have shorted the contacts inside.
