Hi - I wanted to know whether anyone has been prescribed "Rapilose Gel" (http://www.penlanhealth.com/Penlan_Healthcare/Rapilose_Gel.html)
I went to my new GP surgery as I wanted a glycogen kit and she said that they do not prescribe it at the surgery and that instead they recommend a glucose gel. She went on to say that in the event of a severe hypo (i.e. I am unconscious), someone should rub the gel on the inside of my cheek and the glucose will be absorbed. The gel also has an 18 month shelf life. I thought this sounded much better than glycogen as that "someone" would be my husband who, bless him, would no doubt be in full panic mode and would find the gel easier to administer than fiddling around with syringes.
Now I read the instructions, it says that it shouldn't be used when unconscious. Semantics aside, has anyone been given this/used this instead of glycogen and can it be used on an unconscious person?
