Glucose readings climbing overnight

Hi - I have been T2 diabetic since 2019. Managed well on keto without meds for 5 years. Fell off the wagon and have had a big wake-up call with an HBA1C of 76. I am returning to keto proper and glucose monitoring. Very confused by these readings over last night. Glucose levels just kept rising while I was asleep. I think the drops overnight can be ignored. It’s me sleeping in the sensor. Anyone else see glucose rising like this overnight? I have also only drunk tea since waking 6am ish. Huge dawn phenomenon.

Hi @Schmoukes

It may be helpful if you share what your readings were when they were rising, what you ate yesterday & if you ate before you went to bed or the time you last ate - the more info you can provide the better for members to see if they can help you in anyway

Ah - sorry - I thought I had posted a pic.

7pm ate a cheese omelette. Glucose moved from 7 to 9 at midnight.
Overnight moved from 9-11 (6am wake up)
Morning - spiked to 14 by 10.30am - no food
By noon - 12 and falling after some keto bread and cheese with salad.

No problem

Are you on any meds for your diabetes? If you’ve only just started back on the keto it can take a while for your body to adjust & to get into ketosis, if you’ve been running very high for a while and looking at your HbA1c it appears you have, your body will be used to running on high numbers and if you are dropping lower than it’s used to your liver could be dumping glucose to bring you back up to where it thinks it likes to be.

Yeah - not on meds and just starting back on keto. Makes sense. Kind of shocking to see it just climbing overnight.
Yes sometimes we need these shocks to pull us up sharp, but you’re back on track now, just keep going and hopefully it should soon show results you’re looking for
