I'm with Sid Bonkers on this. About 8 years ago the nutritionist on a diabetes course I attended (DAFNE equivalent) recommended jelly babies as the fastest- acting and easiest to eat cure for hypos. I've used them ever since; mine have never melted in the car, and dextrose tablets turn into tooth-breaking rocks after a while. A friend suggested putting 3 jelly babies into one of those zip-lock plastic bags you get spare buttons in; they're exactly the right size, keep them fresh and you can stuff one in a pocket of all your clothes. Works for me...btw, sugar lumps don't work very well as the the chemistry's different - can't remember the details, but not recommended apparently

Met an older diabetic bloke once in ambleside Cumbria .
He used a square or two of Kendal mint cake to treat his hypo's .

He and his wife walked miles around the fells .
Mint cake always tucked into his rucksack .
Small block of it - to treat his lows or hypo's .
