Hey, Regarding my Previous posts, (Son had a sugar level of 11.6) so as sent for a GTT My 6 year old had his fasting test today. His last bit of food was 7:00pm last night, His 1st blood test was done at 9:30am came back at 5.6 (i think) and was tested every Half an hour, at 11:30am It was 8.9, at 12pm it was 6.2 and 12:30pm it was 7.9 and 1pm it was 3.6, They have also sent blood work away which will tell the previous 3 months levels. The only question is, are them levels ok? Im assuming there great!!. Also the nurse was a little confused how it went from high to low to high, 8.9-to-6.2-to-7.9. I honestly have no idea what these tests mean.
hopefully someone will

Thank you Guys for all your help! :) x

Hi. The readings aren't too bad but some are a bit high? A lot depends on whether your son was having anything to eat after 9.30? Sometimes the liver will dump glucose into the blood if you don't eat for a long time so this may cause levels to change as well. The '3 month' blood test is a good test and is called the 'HBa1C' test. Your Doc/nurse should discuss the results with you. Hopefully it will be less than, say, 6.0 - 6.5 using the older measurement system. If higher then the doc should discuss treatment options.
