Hi, I'm a new member on this forum. I have type 2 diabetes and was prescribed Metformin but experienced gastrointestinal problems. My doctor then prescribed Metformin SR, slow release but I couldn't tolerate this either. One drug called Glumetza (listed here on Diabetes.co.uk) is Metformin BUT has a unique 'delivery system' as its called. The coating on Glumetza enables the tablet to remain in the stomach without passing into the intestines where the problems usually occur. It slowly releases the Metformin into the stomach. My doctor wrote a prescription for this drug but Boots were unable to find a UK supplier under their 'special request' system. It seems the only place I can buy this reliably is from Canada but it's expensive. Has anyone on this forum been prescribed Glumetza and found a UK supplier? It seems it's produced by SunPharma Inc. in the USA.
Thanks for reading and any help you may be able to offer.
