Hi folks, I've stopped taking my Glyclazide (2 x 40mgpd). I suffered anger issues that got worse and worse, plus anxiety issues. Since stopping the meds I've noticed the issues have gone. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I'm at the docs next week to discuss an alternative. Many thanks, Mick

Have you used a monitor to record your blood glucose levels whilst on the meds?

Hi, yes I check regularly. The glyclazide worked fantastically at bringing my levels back to normal, but the side effects were horrendous

Usually when first diagnosed, metformin is prescribed.
Are you taking this drug as well as the glicizide?

And yes, tell your GP about the symptoms.

What levels are you seeing when testing? When are you testing?

Best wishes

Never had these experiences when on Gliclizide except when I was near or having an actual hypo, then I would get what my hubby called “snappy or short” he used to ask me to check my BG and 9 times out of 10 I was beginning a hypo with BG below 4.

Hi, Metformin didn't agrre with me. I take Dapagliflozin and Linagliptin, with Glyclazide recently added. My levels are check morning, bed time and before driving. I was getting between 5 and max 8, but since stopping Glyclazide I'm back to double figures. I'm sure I'll be offered an alternative at my appointment next week.

Many thanks, Mick

Hi thanks, no I'm not at hypo levels when I experienced this. It is continuous throughout the day

Gliczide is known to drop blood glucose levels, that is why it is prescribed.
The other two are relatively newish drugs that do two different things to help with levels!

Have you been told about dietary restrictions other than the usual sugars advice? Are you on a restricted diet?

I have no problem with your testing as you need to know what it is before driving and a fasting test can be used as a benchmark. But those who use a glucometer, do testing around meals times.
This can tell you which foods are spiking you so high. And maintaining high levels, which is not what I would recommend.

The drugs alone will not help with getting control of your diabetes.

Maybe you have not been told about reducing your carbs intake.

Best wishes.
