Glyclozide

I just wondered if anyone has reduced carbs so much etc they were able to get off this med at done point.
I just worry il be stuck in it forever.

Also did you gain weight on it and if so how much?

Sorry for lots of questions on this.
Hello,
Well, I gid get off Gliclazide two months ago. Recommended by my GP because it started to give me Hypos when taken with some heart medication.
But also at the same time, I started to reduce my carbs. I didn't gain wait ( was taking it for 10 years approx!) , but now on lower carbs and no Gliclazide, I have lost just under stone, which I didn't need to lose because I am about 60KG / 9 stone in weight).

Thanks.

Are you eating enough healthy fats?

No! I mentioned ketoacidosis and she just said oh yes and referred to the Empagliflozin, then mentioned talking to the diabetes nurse who knows I eat low carb and who said nothing!

I am low carb, not ‘no carb’. I do not exclude all carbs.

I have been on X-Pert Diabetes course in 2021 after I was diagnosed and that trainer knew I was following low carb, said nothing about Ketoacidosis other than he didn’t like Gliclazide and like me off it. ‍♀️

(mod edit to take out now deleted quote. For clarity: the quote was about testing for ketones.)
I too was Low Csrb (about 100g/day) and on low dose of Dapagliflozin (5 mg/day) when I measured 8 mmol/l ketone levels and felt 'decidedly under the weather'. I recovered fairly quickly so it seems I may have been dehydrated which exacerbated the effect of the meds. But I am now aware that it is not just keto diet that might be contributing, it can happen suddenly out of the blue. I happen to be taking a water tablet at the time, and this also may have been a contributor so maybe Furusomide need to carry a warning too when combined with one of these meds.
