Anyone have any useful tips to prevent gnat bites and/or treat them? I’m Type3c and this year have been bitten 5/6 times every time I step out of the house!

Use a insect repellent, we use Bushman's here when we go some where and the mosquito's are big enough to throw a saddle on.

It's available in the UK if I rightly recall...

Make an insect repellent spray with dried mint leaves.
Boil a half cup of water with a spoonful of the dried mint leaves.
Adding other herbs such as Lavender will strengthen the repellent.
Cool it down for couple of hours.
After straining the mint leaves, add the mint liquid to the spray bottle.

Also have mint plants growing in your garden or in pots in your house.

Mint contains aromatics that are repellent to insects.

My ex wife (red headed Scot) was always a lot more susceptible to these than I. We never knew why. On holiday to Scotland or Portugal for example she was severely attacked whereas I got away with minimal damage.

We wondered if the difference might be dietary. She tended to eat more savoury foods and me sweeter foods.

Having said that, @Tipetoo I did come a cropper in western Papua New Guinea with a mild dose of malaria which was short lived owing to the tablets I had been taking at the time.
