going for fasting test tomorrow

hi
i am new to this site but have been reading lots of posts and i am impressed how much knowledge you have and how much support you offer.
i am going for a fasting blood sugar test tomorrow. doctor doing it as i have family history i am 53 and my father and brother were both type 2 diabetics. both dead now. dad lost his sight to diabetes and brother had a massive heart attack .
i have been worrying about this for a couple of weeks so last week i bought a monitor and decided to do some tests
these are some of the results.
fasting after 12 hours = 8.6
after breakfast of cereal and soya milk - 10.5
after lunch chicken and salad and yogurt = 8.5
just before bedtime = 6.3
do you think these results are ok
i know you cant diagnose but any advise would be much appreciated

Hi Linda,your blood sugar levels do look on the high side but only your doctor will diagnose properly for you.Have a good look around the forum for a lot of helpful info. Please come back and tell us how you get on with your fasting test.
 
Hi Linda and welcome to the forum,

Your fasting level is high, but not astronomic, but your readings do show that it is likely that you have diabetes. In view of your family history I am sure you must be very worried, but the secret to diabetes is you taking control of it instead of it taking control of you. Have a good read round the various sections, if you haven't already, and I am sure you will find plenty of ideas of how to control it. If there's anything you would like to know then please ask and we will do all we can to help you.

Good luck at the doc's tomorrow and let us know how you get on.
 
thanks for your good wishes i wont get the result for 2 weeks as my dr is on holiday and i have to go to the walk in centre at 7 am in the morning . if it is confirmed then i will do my best to maintain good levels i have seen what happens when you dont.
