I had a very good Doctors visit today. I have had my Metformin changed to the slow release, and she is giving me a meter and test strips.

I showed her and explained how I was controlling my blood sugar. And I explained how much regular testing would help with my anxiety and results. And she agreed!!!! I am seeing the Diabetic Nurse on Tuesday for a meter and teaching.

This is such a relief as I am on benefit and the cost of even the SDCodefree strips was a bit difficult.

This will just be a trial for 4 weeks - so we shall see what happens next.
:D
Very relieved

Great news Lucy, hope you get the test strips prescribed beyond the 4 weeks :)

I should add that my anxiety is not about my rsults. I have Generalised Anxiety Disorder and being able to control my bs levels is helping keep my anxiety levels down.

Hi lucy.
Great result for you, you will feel better using your meter and seeing just where you levels are sitting at.
Control of diabetes is tricky as it is full of suprises !!!! No wonder it can and does cause stress to some daily.
Infection, pain, trauma, illness, and worry/stress etc can push the blood sugar levels up too.....
Do let us know how you go on after training and getting your meter.
Anna.x :)

That's great news Lucy. I hope the doctor carries on giving you strips after the 4 weeks.

Hi Lucy,

Glad you got some strips and a meter and the help that goes with it. I cannot get my head round ( Ok COST,COST,COST) the problem with getting hold of test strips! We ALL REGARDLESS OF TYPE need these strips to help us manage our diabetes. I havent had a rant on here before but this really does annoy me. Good on you Lucy for getting hold of them but you shouldnt have had to had the issue in the 1st place. Also its not ONLY TYPE 2!!!! I have learnt so much more about the different types of diabetes on this forum and that we all have an uphill struggle ............

Well done Lucy, excellent result. I also hope she carried on prescribing past the four weeks.
