Have just come back from a good appt with GP. so thought I'd let you know about it!
At my practice there is one GP who has an interest in Diabetes - I don't know what extra training/ experience he has ( will ask next time I go actually).

I've had a bad 'fall off wagon' - please see previous post- which resulted in my being in A&E with BGL of 33!! I'd had high dose steroids to treat an exacerbation of my asthma & had stopped testing & low-carbing!! Really scared myself as felt very peculiar & vision very blurred!!
Had Hba1c 2 weeks ago when I came out of hospital & booked then to see GP today.
I've been on Metformin since -1500mg was prescribed but I must admit following advice on here I've been taking 2000mg & sure enough GP put me up to that officially. I've also been low carbing since & my levels today have all been under 10.- so getting there. Turns out my Hba1c was 90!! Terrible!!

Anyway doc said he could see how well I'd done when testing & low- carbing previously (I'd got my Hba1c down to 51 then) & that I could have as many strips as I wanted. He recommended the 'carbs & cals' app & said how good this forum is. He asked that I have another Hba1c in 6 weeks just to see that things are coming down & then another 6 weeks after that. Very positive & supportive.

Only bad thing is (& not his fault?!!) is that I've got tendinitis in my Achilles & therefore have to be very careful with exercising - I usually dog walk for at least 90 mins/day but have been hobbling badly for last few weeks!! I can't even swim because of another condition. Have got a physio referral though. (Sad dogs -as he says you need to take it seriously or can end up with severe problems & having to wear a boot for 4-6 months. Saw this on last nights 24hrs in A&E!!!)

Feeling happy & motivated tonight. I can get back on top of this.

Not a bad day at all @Sunny, hope your physio referral goes well.

Well done!
That is some control regain!
:D
And yes, rest that tendon. They take longer than you think to heal, and need more rest.

Your GP sounds a bit like ,mine.. Well done in taking back control, and I found your posting here to be very positive. Take it easy with the tendon, the Achilles takes a long time to recover. Good luck, and I look forward to reading your posts in the future. ~I hope you managed to resolve some of the issues you were reporting in the other thread.

Thankyou all for your kind words. Still feeling positive & doing great with my testing & low carbing.
