good news for some ?

I think exercising only for weight loss is waste of time.

But ...
Exercising for maintaining bone density, staving off dementia, socialising, increasing strength, feeling good, ... is an excellent idea.

And don’t forget there are many ways to exercise not just going to the gym, running a marathon or other activities some people hate.
Walking to and around the shops is exercise, dancing is exercise, gardening is exercise, housework is exercise (although I’d rather go to the gym), ...

When I was in the air force I used to run a lot between 10 and twenty miles most days.
The medical officer was in the gym one day and in conversion he said if your doing that to loose weight it's pointless as exercise is not the way.
That was getting on for nearly four decades ago. He understood that all that time ago.

The more i see and read about food,
the more it all looks like the mad hatters tea party from alice in wonderland.

Never dieted in my life.
( wasn't really even aware of the food groups, if i'm honest
Carbs where a complete mystery. )

yet by simply amending my diet and restricting the higher end carbs from it,
i and so many on here have lost a shed load of weight.

Can the world really BE so dense to not see ...?

Are you saying John that if you keep the same diet and start running 10 - 20 miles a day you won't lose weight?

You're very lucky, please appreciate that it isn't so straight forward for many. It just isn't always down to "simply amending" higher end carbs, I have to avoid all carbs except those in non-root vegetables.

Your world is very simple and straight forward. The most important thing I've learned is that weight isn't necessarily just about calories in and calories out. I think carbs have had a bad effect on many, not all (my wife for example) but many. Then there's insulin levels which don't help and ignore calories all together. Then there's cortisol, estrogen, testosterone, and environmental toxins, all have some effect. Metabolism comes in there somewhere and mine has died, so says my GP. I will find the answer one day.
