Diagnosed just over a month ago (type 2). Saw my GP on thurs to see how I was getting on. My kidneys are ok. Showed him my graphs from my meter (got an iBGStar which he was rather intrigued by) he was very impressed by my levels - down from 19.8 to 6's & 7's- he said I had done particularly well with being on steroids, so I was very pleased with myself. Have also lost another half stone (1 and a half altogether). He said he wouldn't start me on Metformin at the moment although may do later for the protective function which I'm happy with. He said that sometimes someone came along who really took good control of their diet & exercise & improved their condition which I obviously was doing. He said we'd do another Hba1c in August - to give things time to settle, which again I'm happy with. Because I was doing so well he would prescribe me another lot of 50 test strips!!
Feel really pleased - will probably try & see him mostly & avoid the practice nurse!!
