Google unveils smart contact lens prototype for glucose monitoring for diabetics

It's 5 years away at least and they are looking for backing. Which would mean longer than 5 years plus passing all the standared required for a medical device. Besides how many people want to put contact lenses in their eyes?

It fascinates me! I've only ever worn contacts once ad that was fancy dress one New Years Eve - hated them.

I could wear them again though if it could improve my health. I think the demand would be phenomenal.

This story appeared in the summer. The independent seems to be re-running it. Fascinating idea to me.

Very interesting but I don't like putting things in my eyes unless I have to.
Lots of people I am sure who don't mind contact lenses would give this a go.

A lot of people use contact lenses so I rather doubt that that will be much of a problem.

The idea of Google having to go look for funding amuses me, however.

I would love these. :) I've been a contact lens wearer for 25 years.

As someone said to me on another thread, "never say never" I personally wouldn't fancy it, but, I hope I would be able to give it a go o_O

Best wishes RRB
