Gotta get back on track!!!!!!!!

Thank you! I'm so surprised actually! But it has given me motivation, and my mind set seems different too. I only eat when I'm hungry and stop when full and as promised, I'm never ravenous since protein and fat keep me sated. I even have a friend who has seen the difference in me this week and has decided to try and lose weight by restricting carb intake rather than the traditional low fat low calorie stuff.

We got given a HUGE 1 kg bar of the purple choc yesterday.

I mean, a middle aged couple, both a tad (cough) curvaceous, with no kids, really NEED a present like that, don't they?

I'm going to have to take it to work and throw it to the gannets to get rid of it.

If it lasts til then.

I don't even enjoy that Cadbury's any more. It's sickly and they stuff it with milk. I have just spent 5 years training myself to enjoy the taste of dark choc. I'm aiming for one of those snobbish mindsets where milk chocolate is a contemptible food for people with un-cultured palettes...

But that sickly little purple voice is there, in my head, saying

'Eat me'
Do you remember a certain supermarket was supporting this site a few months back? Well I won a prize there and they gave me.......... a huge bar of chocolate! (which I then ate :()

Oooo, I must check out the carbs in pate.

I just have the basic Brussels pate from a supermarket own brand and it has 5.2 g carbs in 100 grams. Tasty and filling, I just fill the groove of a celery stick and hey presto, tasty finger food!

I've been filling celery with grated cheddar mixed with mayo, but I need to rethink the diet as I haven't lost any weight. I think my mistake has been to have too much protein. Either that or the diabetic nurse was right and I won't lose weight while taking Gliclazide. I hope it's not that.

Don't lose hope yet! You have a lot of insulin in your system, assuming you have a lot of insulin resistance as well. This may delay the kick start of weight loss, but you could try hard-core paleo or Atkins for a week or two, meaning you will absolutely minimise the amount of insulin in your body. This should push your body into recognizing the nudge for weightloss.

It's just a thought, hard work, but could be worth it if it works. I think you just need to tweak and try until you find a balance. Some people tolerate very few carbs, especially in the beginning of their journey!!

Yes, that's the sort of thing I've been looking up on the internet in the last few days. I'm not losing hope, I just need to learn what's going to work for me. Once my husband goes back to work tomorrow (he works away from home) I will see how low I can go with the carbs. I'm looking up good menu ideas now.

There are a lot of good menus and recipes out there! I have the dukan diet cook book, which has loads of very low carb recipes, and they are nice too. As a bonus you can use oil and butter for the cooking as dukan is not using any fat at all. There are plenty recipes online too. It'll surely be a lot easier if the hubby isn't there!

Progress update: had a migraine this morning so slept til half two with it to get rid of the auras. Headache still there, but at least I can live with that as I can see properly again.

So,no appetite today. Had a decent portion of my chicken and veg soup to keep going. I also had a small portion of yogurt and berries. Well have to have some cheese before bed to reduce the dawn phenomenon.

Errrrrrrrr......... I bet that would be nice, formed into a patty, then fried in the bacon fat.

My breakfast bacon is cooking right now, and I'm now salivating.

Oh that sounded really good so just made my own version. Coarsely mashed cooked cauliflower and butternut squash with a little butter and creme fraiche and ground black pepper. Fry some bacon bits til crispy, add the bacon bits to the mix and form patties, fry in the bacon fat and serve with a fried egg on top. It was yummy! :D

Ooooh I'm hungry today!! Had yogurt and berries for breakfast, nuts and seeds for snack and now chicken and veg soup. And I'm still hungry and have no more food!

Lesson learned: have too much food with to avoid temptation... Bought a handbag to aid my resolution. At the moment I have no carb cravings and the crisps don't tempt me (hallelujah). 4.5 hours of work to go ...:wacky:

I'm doing a long day today, from 8-21 and had to be very organised last night to avoid repeating yesterday's mistake of having too little to eat. What I have eaten so far:
2 fried eggs and bacon for breakfast
2 homemade tuna and prawn burgers with 5 cherry tomatoes and a handful of lettuce leaves, diet coke.
And now I'm stuffed. Options for later:
Salami, olives, pate and cream cheese on 2 crackers (3.5g carbs each),
Turkish yogurt with cinnamon and stevia
Nut and seed mix.
Don't see being very hungry later so we will see what I will eat later.... No carb cravings at the moment either...

Blood sugars 2 hours after eating 6.2!! Low carbing for under 2 weeks, starting with sugars between 10 an 13, all old symptoms back: itching, tiredness, brain fog.

I am soo pleased, could never have hoped for faster results as all my symptoms have gone now!:):D:woot::joyful::hilarious:

Hmm a weekend of excess just behind.... Uncounted amount of red wine and a kebab with chips later on Friday, had a very shaky Saturday doing touristy things in Teignmouth and Torquay. All went well until the afternoon when I just had to have a cream tea, after all I was in Devon...

Barbeque and salad for dinner and this morning found an actual low carb breakfast in a cafe! So had some macadamias in the morning and bacon, eggs, mushrooms and a fried tomato at lunch time. Very nice!

Now am waiting for the carb cravings to return but they have not so planning on soup for dinner, mix of broccoli and cauliflower with onion and cheese. Mmmm!

Oh, my body is in absolute uproar! Last two days have gone badly for not preparing for the day ahead. Result: starvation and a hypo just before I was going to start my new 55 mile commute. Eat sandwiches to correct as I had run out of food. Today, was feeling sweaty and shaky as I got home so had a whole loaf of seeded crackers. Plan for tomorrow: TAKE MORE BLOOMING FOOD WITH YOU!

Anyway, now am feeling icky and have heartburn as my body is hating the shedload of carbs I have chucked at it. The funny thing is that I gave in even tho the compulsion like cravings were not there... Also, it does not help that we get free bacon and egg butties now at work.... I have resisted tho...

I think I lost my focus, in the middle of starting a new (and considerably more stressful) job (yes, I know I'm a loony for liking stress) , having a double commute until I move and having to sort a place to live.

This is not an excuse, just a bit of oversight and misjudgement from my part. Water under the bridge.... Water under the bridge......:woot:

Ah yes, I'm familiar with that one! The dawning realisation your peckish, then the sinking feeling knowing you are hungry, the bad food choice (often cos no good ones available. The consequences...

That commute must be hard.
Is the job worth it?
