I am in such pain just waiting to go to the doctor for what seems like gout. I also had a blood test to see if I am diabetic got the results reading was 5.3 that is okay I was told but I I'm sure I am pre diabetic as after food sometimes goes to 10 + so going to have a glucose test. my question is,is having gout another symptom of diabetes?

Hi Maddiemo! I've had attacks of gout a few times, so I know how painful it can be and sympathise with you. As far as I know, it's not specifically linked to diabetes.
You say you think you're pre-diabetic because of the readings you get; just wondering why you're testing if you're not (confirmed) diabetic? What made you think you might be in the first place? If you ARE in doubt, then the glucose test you're going for should confirm one way or another, and an early intervention with a sensible diet change should arrest things hopefully.
Let us know how you get on with the test, then we can give you more dietary advice if you need it.
Good luck!

AFAIK, and as told to me by my doctor, there is no connection.

That aside, I USED TO suffer from gout. Started like a stubbed toe - more inconvenient than painful, and I could work on.
Each time it got worse, and I'd eventually have to keep my shoe off, and anything well away from my ultra sensitive toe.

Googling eventually took me to

and I can now report that I appear to be gout free.

Let me know if you want more details sent to you. I'll then PM you.

Wishing you a gout-free future.

Type 2 sufferer. Have had gout - terrible pain! Have not had an attack since taking Tart Cherry Capsules and they do not seem affect blood sugar levels. Capsules obtained from longerhealth.co.uk
