Now as regards exercise ... has anyone got any advice on getting a GP referal for help in the gym/classes department? I quite fancy a nice personal trainer
should i sign up to some sort of controlled exercise classes at my local leisure centre, will it help my state of mind or just make me feel even more tired and fed up? recently diagnosed T2 with long time underlying joint/muscle condition.
help!!!!!

Some areas of the country still do exercise on prescription, not sure about the NE of Scotland. This is something you will have to discuss with your own GP. If it is available you sound like it would be beneficial. Any exercise will help, although you need to consider your other conditions, in particular the Angina. Don't overdo it. Little and often is my maxim. I had a Triple By-Pass in 2004 and you do have to consider more than just the Diabetes side of things.

There is this article from the Scotland on Sunday back in April which gives the prevailing view.

not quite the same, but there may be local schemes available to you.

It works very well in my area[Reading] We have a flurishing group, called the Pathway Group, which meets several times per week for exercises with a specialist Sports therapist. We've been working together for a few years now. We do Aqua exercises, Gym classes, Tai Chi and seated exercises. It's not free, but we get a reduced monthly gym membership at a local authority facility It's well worth it and the more classes you attend, the cheaper each one becomes. I've benefited enormously.
