Hi wife & I had appointments to see the diabetic nurse my wife for her annual review and me as a new diabetic. Received phone call yesterday, cancelling these appointments as the diabetic nurse had gone sick.
New appointments made but we expected to accept a new procedure in which time with diabetic nurse is "a few minutes" preceded by25 minutes with a practice nurse.
We are very unhappy patients, my wife age 80 has mobility problems and I am her carer.
Have any of you experienced a change like this in your area? Any knowledgeable person out there aware of NHS guidance

Hi. It sounds like cost savings with the practice nurse going thru a long list of possibly irrelevant stuff. If you have concerns about the diabetic state of either of you then I would insist on seeing someone trained in diabetes in the near future. Make sue you have the required blood and urine tests and understand the results. Be careful with any dietary advice, as that from a practice nurse may be poor guidance.
