Gp's And Obesity

Well, Jason Fung seems to manage by longer fasting and Prof Taylor, Newcastle uses 800 Cal's per day for a number of weeks.
If you expend more energy than you input we all should lose weight unless we have discovered perpetual motion.
D.
If only it could be that simple! I was very active in my late teens/early twenties with aerobics, badminton and swimming but also went on a very low calorie diet (approx 700) and only managed to lose a grand total of 7 lb in 2-3 months but succeeded in making myself very ill because my metabolism is so efficient that it goes into survival mode if it thinks I’m not having enough calories hence the comment from my consultant. I did lose weight after beginning treatment for hypothyroidism and cutting carbs - perhaps because I wasn’t counting calories.

We are all supposed to have one, although it may not be him/her we see at every appointment. Have you asked at the surgery? I have seen mine stated on various NHS forms.
The name of my ‘named’ GP seems to change every month

Do you think obese GPs are more understanding or the worse critics? One of my GP's would definitely be classed as overweight and mentions it the most without any solution. Real solution.

One of my sons is overweight but wouldn't be if I could have continued OUR exercise regime and I curbed his leptin resistance. He is definitely not diabetic and has been checked twice now. Not checked for excessive insulin resistance thou. His father won't agree to him going lower carb. Medics/dietician either. No metformin for children, apparently.
Obese GPs are like us all office based workers. Sit down alot.
Some health centres have GPs walk to waiting room to collect their patients to stay more active. Maybe I should suggest the same on their next survey? If good for goose, good for gander!
