I'm wondering if I should contact my surgery formally to ask how the respond for people newly diagnosed with diabetes.
I was diagnosed in late March this year by the diabetes nurse, two high BG's. There followed a HbAc1, which she gave me the result 10 days later.
Then in the post two appointments eyes and diet.
Okay so far.
I mentioned to the nurse I was having some issues with my irregular heart beat and she said I should see the doctor. So when I was getting my HbAc1 result I mentioned I had an appointment to see Dr X. Oh she says, that good as she is the Diabetes specialist for the surgery. I see her, we talk about my heart and statins and really not much about diabetes, she gave me the impression all would be covered by the dietitian nurse.
The dietitian asked if I had had an appointment for my feet, I hadn't. Give it 2 weeks and then contact the surgery and ask.
Today I phoned the surgery to make an appointment with Dr X. No can do, only works one and a half days and her appointments are locked till into July. Could she offer me another doctor. I said No, as there are a couple there would are a danger to their patients...
So I need to check on the feet thing but have been left wondering if there is meant to be a care plan that is meant to kick in or are we meant to just go and make it up as we do along....
Cheers
