Gradually introducing a few more carbs

7.8 before you ate? That sounds very unrealistic for you. Could it have been a rogue reading?
I hope so but this afternoon was 5.6 after lunch then at 15:00 hrs was 7.8 again without eating anything mystifying.

The chips yesterday were home kooked.

Edit to add think I have figured it out last two days have taken steroids in the afternoon rather than early in the day.

Well, the Hba1c is down to 33 and I hardly ever go above 6mmol post prandial so I have stared to eat a few more carbs.

Yesterday I had a longed for cheese and bacon puff from the bakery for lunch...pre 4.6 two hrs later 5.3. Today I ate 135g new potatoes (previous meals 100g) with salad, salmon and mayo....pre 4.6 post 5.3.

I shall keep trying new things and being careful and will be interested to see what effect this will have on my weight as well as my BG.

Has anyone else done this and found that they can eat more or less normally?

Well done great hba1c

Yes, the steroids ... from what I've read on the forum they do seem to have an instant effect. Great news though about the chips! The fat helps.

I had similar success with baked beans ( about a tablespoon) earlier this year and now have them with all my fry ups. Bliss.

My Hba1c has been between 38 and 35 for the last 4 years and I find that I can tolerate more carbs than I used to.
