grains and carbs harmed me

I never suffered with anxiety, but definitely depression and stress in my younger years. Despite losing weight and getting normal BG levels, I've never been able to lose the thicker waist and what Dr Berg calls the "adrenal body type". My depression has improved hugely since going LCHF and getting my Vitamin D3 levels right. Still can't budge the belly though. Even when I weighed my lowest and have very prominent lack of subcutaneous fat on other areas of my body (especially my face and butt), still that belly :(

From what I gather, anxiety can definitely be a huge red flag for hypothyroidism - so get your thyroids checked!

I think maybe she is referring to Physiological Insulin Resistance (as opposed to diabetic insulin resistance). They are not the same thing. You can Google PIR for more details. It can happen on a very low carb diet, but is easily remedied. It happened to me 12 months ago when my base levels suddenly notched up noticeably without any change to routine, yet the actual rises from before meals to after meals dropped a tad, and stayed that way for a few weeks until I was advised of a remedy. Just a couple of days with extra carbs sorted it, then back to low carb again. It hasn't happened again.
Hi, thank you for that. I did look it up and found the following link, which explains things in simple terms with more references if needed.

So, nothing to worry about, but interesting about the oral glucose tolerance test.

Glad to be of help. Yes, that is the page I originally found. Very clearly written in simple terminology.

The point about OGGT is well known and frequently mentioned on the forum, and is something we mention when a low carber decides to have such a test, or indeed do a home test. It requires carbs a few days beforehand in order for it to work.

Yes I've suffered low moods depression lots of anxiety and panic attacks and z stressful life since childhood ...
