Hi there
Today I had an urgent appointment with my Ophthalmologist at Boots. Because yesterday, we went to Boots to collect my daughters new glasses. All went well and then the assistant, called Carolyn, asked me about the blood spot in my eye. I told her it appeared on Sunday and on Monday I felt changes begin in my eye. She asked if she could get my notes and after reading the medical conditions she asked if I would like to see someone about my eye, I said well yes that would be ok. She then said she noticed I was leaning in, on my right side to listen to her, which the same side as the dodgy lasered eye and said having diabetes can affect hearing.
I had a 9am appointment for my eyes, then eye drops and whilst I was waiting for the drops to take affect I had a hearing test. I now know that my hearing on the right side is weaker, but no treatment and not serious. I then went in and had my eye thoroughly examined again, she then went out and brought another Ophthalmologist in and re examined me and they were talking about what they had seen in my eye and the words PVD ( Posterior Vitreous Detachment )came up. I asked what this was and its to do with the pulling of the Vitreous and a possible tear or detachment. So my GP will get a report from her today and I'm to see my GP in a couple of days and I will be referred back to the hospital consultant.
I just wanted to say if it wasn't for Carolyn who noticed both of these problems I would of just carried on as normal and not worried about it. So, Boots, have come up trumps and I will write a little thank you card as I didn't see her today because it was her day off.
Great customer service from Boots and a big thank you too
