Looking around for a suiting platform to maybe do something, I ended up here, in this lovely forum - and possibly the only great place around for diabetics to share their lives, knowledge and everything connected to it.

My name is Michael, 43 years old from Sweden, born and raised. My alias "Swesent" a simple portmanteau of "Swedish" and "sentence" (since I really love to write).

I was diagnosed with Diabetes T1 at the age of six. I'm rather thankful for being so young when I got it because I can't remember any life before it. I'm sure it would have hit me much harder had I gotten it during my teens. I've gone through many periods with treating with shots and with pumps - and I'm currently on a T:Slim X2 with G7 sensors (and very happy with its performance to be honest).

During my years I have read up on quite a bit of nutrition and a whole lot on all types of fasting! I've tried 'em all and I was quite shocked in the beginning how something so healthy, seemed to be a death sentence when talking to my doctors and diabetes team about it. But I rarely feel as great, or experience as stable blood glucose as I do when I'm fasting.

My biggest grievance at the moment is my weight - something that I've been working on for the past +20 years - with lots of different approaches. I manage for a while, but then there's always something that makes me go off track and eat unhealthy again. Reasons, excuses, situations... my brain can be very resourceful at times when searching for a way off the healthy highway and straight into the fields of sugar again.

Now I've recently started on yet another attempt, using long term fasting as the main tool. So far so good. And I hope that there's a place in this forum to keep kind of like a progress journal or similar - where I can just share whatever I feel like - all my experiences, thoughts, feelings in regards to my diabetes as I try and conquer my weight one more time. Maybe a way for me to hold myself accountable or something. But I need to check with a moderator first, since I don't wish to litter the forum with stuff unwanted.

I could keep going for pages on end... I work as a store clerk at a "Granngården"-store. No sports, long walks, computers, music (listening) and horror movies. Anyway, I welcome questions and... yeah... thanks for taking time out of your day to read. Much appreciated!

A warm hug from a cold Sweden!

Thank you for the greetings!
Actually, I have this one question that I would really like a very quick little guidance on, seeing as I don't wish to post anything in the wrong sections or post something that maybe has a better place elsewhere. But I am currently unable to converse through Private Messages though (at least I don't have that option yet). Maybe I must have more time at this forum under my belt, I gather... And it's something I'd rather take more privately and go from there.

Anyway, thanks again for checking in! :)

There’s lots of sub forums and it can be a bit overwhelming where to post but members rarely get it wrong, stick to posting on any of the forums in the T1 section or in the ask the question forum and of course replying to any current threads that interest or are relevant to you and you won’t go far wrong.

As to the PM system I appreciate you may want to keep certain things private but the forum is well moderated and everyone is friendly and posting in a PM only gets you the opinion and experience of the person you are in PM with, posting on the forum gives you a much wider audience, of course that choice is totally yours and it’s whatever makes you more comfortable

Welcome to the forum.

If it were me wanting to share such a log including my thoughts I'd start a thread with a title covering the subject, something like 'T1, fasting and weightloss', and post it in a suitable sub-forum such as https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/type-1-diabetes.19/, https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/fasting.78/ or even https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/category/general-chat.5/, the last one being very suitable for off topic sharing 'whatever you feel like'.

I'm curious to hear about your experiences even though I'm not interested in fasting myself (except for often postponing breakfast until late afternoon out of laziness mainly).

Yeah, perhaps the General Chat section. I would be posting updates in that "journal thread" of mine maybe every other day or so (and answer questions of course, should any arise). I'm not here to spam the forum or anything. I'll be doing this thing pretty much by myself (as an introvert, real life, on-site friends are few and far between). Could be rewarding to share it with friendly people online.

Thank you for taking the time to give me advice! I really appreciate it!

I wouldn't overthink where to post, just start your thread, it does sound it will be helpful for you, and that's what the forum is about really.
If on second thought you'd prefer your thread to be in a different subforum you can always ask the mods to move it for you.

So maybe start now and post a thread about the way you are fasting, how it helps you, and what challenges you've met so far?
