Hi. I'm not a big forum guy usually but I read through some of the posts here and they seemed very informative. Some of the best advice comes from those using the medication hence my interest. I'm always up for some decent advice!

Basically I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about 5-6 years ago. I control it with tablets plus other medication to help me with my obesity. I visited mg GP today who said that the Competact tablets I have been on for some time now have actually played a part in increasing my weight. He also said that the emphasis on type 2 care used to be firstly the control of blood glucose levels while weight was very much a secondary issue. Now apparantly it has reversed with a 'lets get the weight down first' type attitude and blood sugar levels secondary. So it was all change today. Back onto slow release metformin (to address the past upset stomach issues when I was first diagnosed) and a dose of Liraglutide to run alongside it. My first time with injectable medication. Sure, I've read all the information online about possible thyroid cancers and other side effects but if this medication change helps me as much as it seems to have helped some of the other members of this forum-well I can live with those side effects.

Anyway good to be here.

Andy
