Crowds. Being high. Being Hypo.
I had a Greggs cheese and onion pasty with my lunch today, they have no nutritional information because they use different suppliers apparenlty.

Anyway, i guestimated the carbs at 40g (!?)
I just googled "cheese and onion pasty carbs" and got a result for greggs cheese and onion pasty on there, and on that site is states 7g carbs for it!!

Does anyone have any idea if this might be more accurate than my guess at 40g!? lol

I ask because i obviously injected for the 40g, and 2 hours later i read 4.8 which is admittantly low for the 2 hour mark and usually means ill be hypo in half an hour.

But 7g!?? that seems a bit low...

Looking for a second opinion on this one from anyone who's more experienced with counting carbs!! (im 2 years in and this has shocked me!)

I'm really bad at working out the carbs for things like pasties and breaded/battered stuff i find tricky too.
All i can really say is that 7g sounds too low and 40g sounds too high. I'd probably guess around 20g. can you look up how much in say a tesco or sainsburys one of the same size.

7g is really too low if it is what I have in mind. I have two of their sausage rolls in the fridge as we speak. Is it the semicircular folded over puff pastry with meat in it thing? If it is we call them bridies. If it is this I would have thought 30-40g.

If they do end up being 7g we will all be rushing out.

I have a particular fondness for their pineapple cakes. I have one about once a year. When I was a kid I used to eat for my lunch, one bridie or pie and beans, one pineapple cake, one cox orange pippin. I actually wouldn't mind having this for my lunch now I'm grown up but the calorie count would be a worry.

I'd keep a bucket by your bed tonight.....I once devoured a Greggs pasty and was violently sick a few hours later. I should have left the shop the moment I witnessed a member of staff sneezing over a tray of pasties that had just been removed from the oven...

Not to put you off or anything....

hi - from my data base per 100g and i reckon a pasty will weigh 200g - wait for this

37g Carbs
327 cals
34g fat

so a pasty is 74.8 g carbs - oops!

Ask if you want any other foods

ps - I dont mind looking up carbs esp as many of the american food tables which appear on the net are very different from uk and it may be they have deducted the fibre from the total carbs . I have a hugre data base of foods and in british portion sizes.

so my guess at about 40g carbs would be about right then? Maybe just a little over?

Maybe i'll take for 30g next time and see what happens. I just can't accept a puff pastry cheese and onion pasty would only be 7g carbs!!
