Group hug needed

Type II diabetes, metformin controlled diagnosed about 18 months ago
I've just recently been to see the dietician for my yearly review, being NHS it was a different pesron to last time. :(
I lost over 16 pounds last year but put on about 8 over C'mas so i'm still in the obese zone. :cry:
This charming woman told me even though my diabetes practice nurse and doc were pleased with my levels and i was feeling well now, that I had to understand that as I got older my diabetes and the effects of it would only get worse! :shock:
Why bother doing anything then?
anyone spare a hug?
I feel like eating a pound of sugar!
 
Your doctor et al are used to seeing patients who don't take control of their diabetes. Take control, low carb and you will not decline. Read Bernstein as a starter.

my doc is great support, it was the NHS dietician who said I WOULD decline no matter what i did
and i would get worse as I get older, even though I've been low carbing
I'm no spring chicken now, so what hope for the future?

I guess we are different - my mission is to prove poor conventional wisdom just how wrong it is .....

don't be discouraged about your weight gain..

if you lost so much before you can do it again i'm sure...

i may not have much experience but my nana is 64.. she has a thyroid problem, arthiritis nd many other medical issues.

when i used to play football about a year ago.. she was the one running up and down the side of the pitch with me!!!

the doc's told her she would only deteriorate and would need daily rest and all other sorts of things... she walks our 3 dogs for hours and hours and is more active than any other nana i've seen.

Heres a big fat hug for you!! [HUG] :)

And i hope you prove 'em wrong just like my nana!!!
 
The dietitian you saw needs some lessons in people skillls. I bet he/she wouldn't talk to their mother like that but would pull out all stops to help rather than hinder.
Don't be put off by what he/ she said and as you have a good Doctor then listen to him.
The weight thing happens to most of us from time to time, prove the dietitian wrong. You have done it before and can do it again.
