Hey there... Little bit of a rant... Sorry.

Right I think most diabetics will agree with the statement "If you do not have it, you cannot know what it is like"

Well my other half disagrees with this statement because he has reaserched it and lived with me since I have been diagnosed.
My other half has been great and has actually saved my life twice, he has been really supportive and I don't think I would have gotten through it without him. I really do love him.

HOWEVER, he got mad at me for saying the above statement, he said that I don't give him enough credit for understanding. Yes he can empathise, yes he can TRY to understand but he just can't!!!

I tried explaining how it is always on my mind, every little feeling I get I'm all "OMG what is that? Am I high? Am I low?" How hypo's SUCK!!! and sometimes it really does make me scared that I am going to pass out (and die). That I am worried about waiting to have children as I want them before I get any diabetes complications (He wants to wait lol). How depressed I get about injecting and testing ALL the time. Feeling guilty when I do have something I shouldn't (I LOVE Mountain Dew and Root Beer) How annoying all the doctors appointments are, Diabetes check up, Eye tests, Blood tests. How miserable I get when I am above 10 which lately has been a lot. There are just SO many things... but apparently he completely gets it and knows exactly how I feel and what it is like... NO.

Rant over.

Well, I understand what you're saying but you also seem very lucky to have such a great partner. Maybe he's putting childbirth off cos he knows what that's like too lol !

I am very lucky indeed, it is more he wants money to be better and he is not ready yet lol.. Which I do understand but now I am diabetic I'm terrified lol and I figure it would be safer to do it before any complications start to show... :P That is my excuse and I'm sticking to it ;)

Maybe come to an agreement. He he says wait 2 years, settle for 1 or something similar. I'm sure you'll get your wish soon ! Good luck !

I get where you are coming from.. My other half has a 'hypo' every now and then and I have to bite my tongue as I don't think it's possible to have a hypo if not diabetic?! (I have tested his blood several times!) god help him if he was diabetic, he eats sweets every day and loves sugary drinks. To the point where my hypo remedies frequently disappear and we argue over this. I try to explain that he just doesn't get how horrible a real hypo actually feels and when you discover someone has polished off your emergency cans of coke during one... Ugh!!!
Sorry I'm not sure where this post is going ha, perhaps shows you you are lucky to have a lovely partner ha xx

I agree with Mo that you have a great and understanding OH there Krissy

It's a hard thing to live with and no one can ever know what it's like to have it unless they are diabetic too.
