I consider myself blessed - because I am surrounded by 'guardian angels' who keep me on track and out of danger. They watch me constantly, and make sure that I check my blood glucose levels on a regular basis. I am a workaholic who will drive himself into a hypo with ease, so my team haul me up and give me royal hell when I get sick.

The leader of the pack is a young lady named Kylie, who rips daylights out of me when I skip breaks. Her mother works at the same store, and tells me she will tell her daughter when I have not behaved!

To me, this is so touching. Both if them say to me, 'you are special, life without you is worthless!' Customers jump on the bandwagon and say look after yourself, you are a rare find....please don't leave us!

This is what being a diabetic is all about. To inspire everyone around you, to show that you are worth life. That people see and understand your burden and know you are there to comfort others regardless of your own misfortune - this is a noble cause. We are not cripples, we are leaders. We show the world that nothing is impossible.

Tonight, I am very touched, and feeling a rare sense of accomplishment, I have found my place.

I work by myself, but I wear my type 1 alert wrist band and my alert necklace, even though I am not supposed to wear 'jewelry'. My 'guardian angel' would be my beloved teenager, who looked after me last week travelling back home by train, after a hypo :angelic:

@leslie10152 in the context of my already having had the best weekend I've had in ages (Mr S - my own guardian angel - has had two whole days without working so we've had a lovely time just being ourselves) might I just say a big wow and a big thank you for your amazing, heartening and thought-provoking post which has MADE MY WEEKEND.
:happy::happy::happy:
Your words 'that we will show the world that nothing is impossible' are nothing short of inspirational.

My family have been fantastic supporting me, my husband now snacks in the kitchen, as he feels guilty eating between meals in front of me. My son and daughter are getting better at not springing last minute plans on me necessitating menu changes at short notice. But my best guardian angel is a friend I lunch with every couple of weeks, she used to bring me chocolates, but now brings me flowers and always insists on ordering the same as me for lunch, usually a salad, when we used to have sandwiches and cake!

Some may say your a little angel yourself @leslie10152 for the reminder.
Your post made me very very happy.
I feel I have a few. They specialise in different aspects of my life.
This forum is filled with the angels I need for diabetes support. One is you!
