Hi everyone, this is my first post.
I was diagnosed T.1. in April and I have a T.1. son of 17 who has had diabetes for 3 years. He was a big help to me, and got me sorted.
The only thing I am not sure about, and have had some conflicting comments regarding this, is that I still like a beer. I have found that my levels go up higher if I drink ale's, yet if I drink Guinness, they are better.
A woman I know has a T.1 son and tells me not to drink Guinness, for some reason.
Is there any reason I can't enjoy my few pints of Guinness?

Hi Lollys mate
Welcome to the Forum. Have good look around and if you have questions we will try our best to answer them.

As for your question regarding Guinness........ :D I used to be a BIG Guinness drinker :( Check out my signature. As with all things alcoholic moderation is the key. I now only drink 2 pints of Guinness a week as a treat. It NEVER has had ANY adverse effect on my Bg levels or anything else for that matter. There have been many posts about it, most seem to find it is Ok, some not. Testing before and after will tell you if you are one of the chosen few....... :D

Good health to you.........
