Gym Memberships

Hi,

Does anyone with Type 1 Diabetes get financial assistance with their Gym Membership? I have been going to the gym for 8 years and now as my wife is expecting a baby in a few months I need every spare penny so I have been considering cancelling my membership. I really do not want to do this as the workouts help with my Diabetes Management.

I've heard of people with Type 2 Diabetes or very obese people having their Memberships supplemented or paid for. So I was wondering if anyone with Type 1 gets any benefits?

I look forward to hearing your replies.

No idea on this one, can't see any harm in asking them at your gym.

I got offered a reduced rate for a limited period (to get me into exercising) by a scheme ran by my local PCT & Council.

Called Active Lifestyle I believe it is available in many areas

From the councils web site:
