Hi, I'm just looking for some advice.

I'm 21 and have been type 1 diabetic for 19 years. I am currently on an insulin pump. Fairly well controlled.

Ever since I was little I've struggled with my weight (never been ideal weight for height or age) and it's getting me down. I was just wondering if there is help available for diabetics for a gym membership or a part payment.

Don't want to be wasting the doctors time by booking an appointment for this question.

Thanks so much.

Hollie

Some GPs have referral schemes for diabetics and people with weight problems to get one to one help from a gym referral. It is worthwhile asking your GP.
I helped to set one up for my GP Practice.
Here in Peterborough Vivacity offer a huge amount of help to persons with illnesses.
My old GP and gym I loved. It was a great scheme for our patients although it was only a discounted scheme it had benefits that I had my own trainer who ensured I did what was right and gave me huge motivation.

It is definitely worthwhile speaking to GP to see whether they have a scheme.
