My 17 year old son has type 1 and is training for the half marathon. He's worried that his level goes low while running even tho he uses jels and we carry a bottle of squash as well while running . He makes his level higher than normal at the start to see him through training but it still goes low. I run with him and he seems comfortable while running but wants to keep his levels constant. Any help or tips would be appreciated

I think testing is key with this. During training, see how much his levels drop every hour roughly. If he drops by 3 mmol for example, take on enough carbs to counteract this. If I run for an hour, I need approx 50g of carbs. Your lad may be different. He should also look to possibly reduce basal. There is a good website called run sweet which has some great advice.
