I finally got a proper printout of my results and just need a bit of help to sort out the cholesterol results please.
I asked the nurse twice what the cholesterol was, first time she just said 'fine' I asked her again what the numbers were and she said 'they're absolutley fine, nothing to worry about'. That was when I asked for the printout!

In Jan I was told LDL (bad chol) 3.4 and HDL (good chol) 1.2. that was all the iinfo I was given.

This time the printout says
Serum HDL chol 1.2 mmol/L
NON-HDL CHOL 3.9
Serum HDL ratio 4.3
Serum cholesterol 5.1
I take it the NON-HDL from this time is the LDL from Jan? And the Serum HDL is the good chol? Which means the good cholesterol has stayed the samebut the bad chol has gone up a bit? Would that be from lchf?
And what is the Serum HDL ratio 4.3? I can see the Serum Chol of 5.1 is the top 2 added together.

She was pleased with the A1C going down (128 in Jan, 86 now) but said there was still a way to go, as if I didn't know!
And she said making cocoa with water and adding cream was worse than using all milk as there is a lot of sugar/carbs in cream. I told her to look it up.
And what on earth was I eating if I've given up bread, pots, rice, pasta etc as they're the stuff that fills us up! So I told her, and she couldn't complain after the big drop in BG and weight loss I've had so far :D
She did say that to carry it on for a long time could cause liver damage so I asked what my liver results were (I have to have liver and kidneys tested every 3 months due to past meds damage) and she had to tell me they were fine. And having regular tests nothing will go wrong without us knowing.

No change to meds at the moment, we're waiting for the GAD and C-Peptide results which should be another week or so.

sorry i know idea how to read those results but hope someone can help

The results are going the right way, ignore the carbs suggestions. It may effect your liver but mine has become normal through low carb. This is one reason why you need to keep a food diary with your blood glucose levels shown before and after meals.
Cholesterol is different, you will find a slight rise in the first few months of low carbing, but eventually they will gradually decrease, your overall cholesterol levels will drop steadily as you get control.

.
Serum HDL is "good" chol

Serum HDL ratio = serum cholesterol/serum HDL chol= 5.1/1.2= 4.3

Non HDL chol = LDL & Trigs
so rise could be lDL or Trigs going up.

No, as 'Collieboy' says non HDL includes all the other particles including triglycerides and LDL. Normally LDL is calculated but you need the triglyceride measurement to do this.
This explains a bit about how it is worked out

If there is no triglyceride result I assume it means that you didn't have a full lipid panel and therefore the LDL can't be worked out.

Ah thanks, I missed that bit.
I've been trying to compare January's numbers with yesterday's, but in Jan I was just given HDL and LDL, yesterday's doesn't mention LDL, just the non-HDL which is a bit confusing.

For me a non full Lipid panel is as useful as a fishnet condom (as I told my HCP:p)
It's like saying"You wrote answers to all your degree finals but we didn't mark your answers!:woot:"
