I had my appointment this afternoon and it has come back as Gastritis and Duodenitis, so not Coeliac disease or an Ulcer  The staff were all very helpful and explained what was going to happen, my friend came with me and we got back after 4pm, so obviously no work tonight, yay :D
The full name is Helicobacter pylori, it is a bacterium, a kind of germ, which lives in the sticky mucus that lines the stomach, about 40%,( so quite high) of people have this and its treatable :D so very happy with the outcome. Tomorrow morning is my Ultrasound scan, so no breakfast again( but I did have a ypgurt drink this morning and tea and 2 biscuits after the prodecdure) so a bit hungry now!!!
Hope you are all well and have had a good day

Best wishes RRB

Pleased it's treatable, hope all goes well in the morning :)

That's good news, it (Helicobacter pylori) is easily treated with antibiotics and when it's gone everything will settle down.

When I had my endoscope I had to ask if it was the same instrument as was used on the other end. "Yes", the doctor replied "But we do give it a wipe down between patients".

I now know it is not the same intrument.

Hi RRB,

Glad its done and that you have a diagnosis ( I have heard of the helicobacter bactiria before ) I hope that your scan goes well tommorow and that you can get the treatment to make you feel better .

Best wishes,

Thank you noblehead, hallii and shop. It went well, I was in the procedure room with lots of instruments and hospital bits and bobs and the Sister couldn't find any of my details on screen, so I had to wait until it was found and I was getting a bit anxious and nervous. I asked for a sedative and it was put into a vein in my arm and .............that was it :) I don't remember anything, I woke up in recovery, feeling very werid and woosy but that was it :) I would definately recommend the sedative to anyone else who has a Endoscopy. My throat is a little sore and I also have a sore head on the left side, behind my ear , but all in all, it was OK.

Hallii, yes I thought exactly the same thing about the tubes  I wonder if he wiped it with a kleenex or an antiseptic wipe   Tomorrow will be a piece of cake, just some jelly on the belly. Thanks again with best wishes RRB xxx

Sugar free jelly I hope RRB! Glad all went well and you will soon be feeling better. Yes tomorrow should be a doddle after today.
