:o On Wednesday i received a card from the post office to say they couldn't deliver a 'package' to me because the sender hadn't put enough postage on the envelope. So, intriged, I needed to pay 50p, plus a handling charge of £1, so together it came to £1.50. I stuck 3 stamps on the card ( my choice of payment) and sent it back. As I thought it was from a friend/family.

Today I received my 'package' which was a letter from the hospital Ophalmology department. It said we recently asked you to contact us to arrange an apoointment, which, as far as I know they hadn't :eh: . So I have paid £1.50 plus a phone call to arrange an appointment to see my Eye Consultant on 31st July. The letter is dated 21st June and the envelope is stamped with 30th June

I will be writing to the department about the cost and I will keep the letter and envelope as proof, to take with me. The envelope hasn't any postage on it at all, so I think someone there could do with an eye test

My youngest sons school did that a few years ago, sent out a letter with no stamp. After having to drive to the sorting office etc. to pick it up only to find it was a totally pointless thing I sent them a bill for an hour of my time and petrol costs etc. Amazingly they paid up and sent a full apology which was great.

Power to the people!! I'll remember that one xyzzy next time that happens to me!

Eleven years ago, after we had moved house, but before the landline telephone was connected, I had to phone BT and chase them up on my mobile. Dialled the number and got stuck on hold until I'd used my £10 credit. Topped the phone up, rang again, same thing. Then I trogged down to the phone box and rang free from there. Got through, spoke to a chap or six, sorted out the connection problem and then complained about my mobile credit. Nothing they could do, sorry.

Hmmph! Wrote a nastily polite letter, enclosed a bill for my phone credit (£20) and for two hours of my time (£50) and posted it off not expecting much. Four weeks or so later, a cheque for £70 arrived with an apology and also a credit for £20 off of our first phone bill at the new address.

Bet that wouldn't happen now....

No it wouldn't...

4 years ago I got home to find that my BB wasn't working, nor was my phone line...

So I used my mobile (contract) to get hold of BT, 3 hours later after speaking to 21 people around the world! Being told that I wasn't a BT customer I or my number didn't exist, me explain yes it did, I've had this number for 8 years, and transferred to when I moved 6 years previously and I had been paying them for my phone service

Finally I got through to a Scottish chap, who said the same, but did sort the line out for me.. When I asked about compensation concerning what happened... He said well I could have used a phone box!

I politely told him, that A) my nearest phone box was 3 miles away if it was working B) Being November and zero degrees, C) I'd been on the phone for 3 hours sorting out a simple problems, D) I'm T1 diabetic..

So taking all that into consideration, I would have probably created a medical emergency, either with a major hypo or due to hypothermia or perhaps both!

So I did complain to the very top of BT, but didn't even receive an apology out of them!

Crazy isn't it! A few months ago I had a note through my door to say I had missed a parcel, I was not expecting anything and naturally was intrigued so I trotted off to the sorting office to be told I could have my parcel but would have to pay £2.50 as there was no postage paid, I figured it must be an oversight by a family member, so I paid up and was handed a brown envelope, imagine my surprise when I opened it to find a urine sample bottle from my GP along with a note advising me to bring along a sample to my next appointment, Hmmmm talk about taking the p**s! Lol
