Haemoglobin A1c Level

weight loss can be a symptom of diabetes can't it? I didn't have any symptoms except perhaps the tiredness.

Great news. I asked my GP about coming off Metformin eventually and he seemed keen for me to stay on it indefinitely as it has protective effects for heart I believe. I hope to reduce it next time (January) as I find I am going low in the evening after I take two then. I was thinking of going back to 2 myself but may take the three but spaced out more.
Anyway well done and keep at it x

Thank you @cold ethyl . I won't rush to come off it then as I have a heart problem for hich I take medication. It all helps. I can't imagine taking two at once. That must be tricky.

I've not really had the bowel problems usually associated with the drug.. In fact I have gone the other way if anything. It's more than combed with the low carbing I'm often in the mid 4s which I find are too low for me.

Superb job mo53!! I began on 3 x 500g metformin and it helped me stave off hunger pangs and lose weight brilliantly. I think the dramatic weight loss and low carb diet helped lower my bg to the point I began reducing the medication and I've been med free since the end of May. I had no side effects from the Metformin, luckily, but I was concerned about my bg going too low for me personally. I have my first annual HbA1c at the end of November, so we shall see what's happened !!

Excellent results @mo53. gives me great encouragement to continue on the Lchf way as I too want results like this.

Hello. I have just had my first blood test result since diagnosis in July. In July my level on the A1c was 58. It is now 44. I was pleased with this as a starting point. I'm taking 2 metaformin each day. Do you agree it is a good start?
Hi mo , congratulation on your numbers ..great news ...Kat

That is brilliant news Mo!

Well done. :D:D:D

And ALL down to your hard work.

How are you feeling on LCHF? Any other benefits? ;)

@Brunneria thanks for the encouragement. Yes I like the LCHF diet. I have lost weight too which has helped. I would like to lose more. I think at first it takes some getting your hand round to this way of thinking but once it clicks it's great! :)
