Our daughter (6yrs old) was diagnosed T1 approx 4wks ago and this week has been losing her hair. Has anyone else experienced this in their child and have you found anything works as prevention / reduction? Thanks
It is very often a reaction to the stress with type 1 diagnosis as well as the result of managing high blood glucose levels that the body responds with hair loss. There isn't a way of reducing or preventing this, it will improve in time but although no one can say for sure when as it's down to the individual. Try not to let this worry you though, the good thing is that with insulin therapy your daughter's health will improve, but if it continues to be a concern then check with her GP.
