Hi, I've got a half year review coming up. Usually I just sit there not paying much attention, nod politely and walk out none the wiser. I was diagnosed T2 about 5 years ago but have only really taken this challenge on in the past two months. In my new found eagerness to control this I have lost about 1.5 stone and completely revamped my diet. I'm really pleased with the results. I've stopped taking my metformin and also stopped my blood pressure tablets. My BG readings average 4.9 for the past month and a bit and blood pressure is averaging at 124/77. Both averages are the result of daily testing (about 40 odd tests). I really wish I'd had this attitude earlier.
Anyway, to the point. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should ask about? Any probing questions. Would I be in a position to ask for advice or referral to a nutritionist for example. When I was last there the GP remarked that my cholesterol was high and without further ado upped my atorvastatin to 80mg from 40mg. No mention of lifestyle changes etc. I don't want that to happen again.
I just want to feel that I'm in control of the direction of this without compromising the GP/Patient relationship and coming across as a smart ar*e.
Thanks
John
