Such a shame you aren't measuring your blood glucose! I think you might've been in for a pleasant surprise if you had. Still, not too late to start now. Improvement, the measurable kind, does add to one's motivation. But yes, I think it's safe to say kicking the soda to the curb is making a big difference, as is the diet. I know the 800 diet is a bit of a kick in the head though, but it does get results fast. Keep in mind it's not to be done for overlong. Like you already said, it's a starvation level of calories and eventually you will need nutrients. Keep it up for a bit, then switch to low carb high fat, which should be quite doable. I hope so, anyway.Greetings Everyone,
I have been extremely naughty in the last two years. My last HBA1C was literally OFF the chart. 13% being the max , mine was 14%.
I have been awaiting knee replacement surgery. My surgeon nearly broke 100m by running in the opposite direction from me. We have a Contract. That is to lose 20kilos, get my diabetes down to 9 in 3 months then he will operate within 14 days. I got an appointment for 7th July to see him face to face, I know it was to have a look at me physically. I cancelled it until August 26th. I have finally got down to doing some hard work , oh how I hate this dieting. It's impossible to exercise because of my knees so the problem is compounded.
I have set myself 800 calories a day which is officially starvation. I know not the healthiest but drastic times call for drastic measures. I had a Ribena addiction of 14 litres a week. That's 28oz of pure sugar. I was urinating 14-16 times a day. I am day 6 of seriousness, no Sugar drinks and my eating is more controlled and healthier. I do love my food. My pee is now reduced to 4-6 times a day. I have not taken a home reading, still too scared but my urinating tells me things must be improving. My battle goes on and a massive thank you to all you wonderful people. Makes a change going on a site other than that disgusting Facebook.
I hope with your help I can start to turn the tide. I plan a new HBA1C in 4 weeks. I already have the forms from the doctor.
My Goodness this Diabetes is a *****. I have some slight numbing in my toes but the feeling has improved in the last week. I would say about 70%. For the amount of self abuse I could be a lot lot worse and was definitely heading that way. I hope I have finally put the brakes on and moved the stick into reverse.

Good luck with the knees! I do think you'll see a jaw drop when you see the surgeon end of august!

That can be a way to lose weight, but many of us find just reducing overall carbs is an effective way to get our blood sugar under control. As far as diet.... I lost 70lbs (USA) in just a few months by removing everything white in the diet... so I cut out potatoes, rice, pasta, milk and anything with sugar. Everything else was fair game.. . I added Apple cider vinegar before bed... and I lost weight fast... It actually freaked out my GP. But it worked... I got the AC1 to a point that I was no longer being told I needed insulin. I still am diabetic and the next 30 pounds will take some time... but the diet that worked for me was Cut the White stuff....
