Saw the doc today and my Hba1c has halved from 12.something to 6.6 in four months. I know that's not as low as it can be, but believe me for me it's good enough to even get it below 7 for now. And all because I discovered the joys of low carbing. My trigs and cholesterol were fine too.

Doc said if it works for me, then stick with it. He said there's been some research done in israel recently which is making the diabetic docs sit up and take notice, that low carbing is the best way of losing weight and reducing bg's.

Don't know why it's taken them so long to work that one out, but there you go! Better late than never (both me and them!)

Cheers to all the low carb regulars on here for the inspiration!

Thanks all - If I hadn't found this site I'd still be struggling as my previoul attempts to get control the 'normal carb' way resulted in daily hypo'ing, weight gain etc - which always made me give up before too long. So it would have been a lot harder. Plus I'm convinced I had a carbohydrate addiction - that is now a distant memory.

I'm so happy that I've found a way to control it, and that I no longer have to worry about storing up problems for the future. Yes a low carb diet can be hard at times, but I'm kind of used to it now and no longer regard bread pasta etc as food. If I buy a kebab I regard the bread as the wrapping! Let's face it it's a lot easier to do this than going blind/amputated/kidnery failure.

:D

Morning AC.

Didn't see this yesterday so I would just like to add my congratulations to the others. :D
All the best.
Ken.

This is a really useful approach and was how I went veggie in 1985. I'm trying to adopt the same approach now to obvious carbohydrates.

That is awesome, mate - good work. I'll meet you in th e5% club in a few months time!
