6 years today since my pancreas and I were separated for good. Although diabetes is a pain it was a good swap compared to the horrible chronic pancreatitis.

Bet not many people on the forum would think diabetes is a good swap for anything but with 50+ hospital admissions and 4 in ITU I can honestly say good riddance (he was nicknamed Bad Ronald of anyone is interested haha!)

Me and mine were separated 12 weeks ago today. I didn't suffer from chronic pancreatitis and wasn't in any pain, but the man in the bed next to me did and the pain he suffered sounded horrific.
I'm glad you feel diabetes is a minor complication compared to Bad Ronald. I honestly feel the same having said goodbye to PeskyPancreasPete.

Happy Anniversary.

I can control my diabetes ( most of the time!), wasn't the case with Ronald!

You're better off without Pete

I think I started to feel human again at 12 weeks, hope your recovery is going well!

Hi Beth, I had one main attack of acute sever pancreatitis which nearly killed me, and one much smaller episode a few months later, both about 6 years ago, I can only massively sympathise with you as someone who had chronic pancreatitis, and so many hospital admissions. I think if I was in your position I'd consider it a good swap, my own view is that diabetes is manageable while something like pancreatitis is not, and is wildly unpredictable, and dangerous.

Bad Ronald is a great name, I haven't came up with a name that doesn't contain a swear word.
I too think being diabetic is no big deal, compared to the constant pain.

Congratulations of your 'gotridofitday' @bgriffith and hope youre doing well @Ruth_C I have to confess to being rather jealous in a bizarre, only people like us could understand sort of way as I still have mine, totally dead but the doctor gods decided to leave it where it is. To add insult to injury I even have pictures to prove it (my Consultant has a warped sense of humour!). I have never admitted this before but mines called pancky ( I will probably never live that down now!) Good to have you on the forum, Sue xxx
