to me!
On the 03rd December 2012, I was released from the hospital with my Type 1 diabetes diagnosis.
So, happy diabetes birthday to me!!

When is your diabetes birthday?

Diabetic sugary hugs to all!

I don't know the exact date! Just November 1988. Roughly towards the end as my mum had started buying Christmas chocolate.

I'm more lucky than professional, I think. Those of us diagnosed way back when have survived all kinds of primitive stuff - urine testing, needles like pokers, etc. There was no opportunity for knowledge or skill. If you got through those days, it was luck, not skill.

Mine was the night of the Mike Tyson vs Frank Bruno fight 25th February 1989 admitted to hospital at 12 years old with severe DKA, that's the only reason I know that date. Never celebrated it though, happy to still be here in good health after almost 3 decades.

Hi Bluemarine Josephine,

Just seen your profile, you're located next door to me as you're in Northampton. I'm based in Milton Keynes if you ever would like to chat plus same year birthday :)

Cheers
Chris

Hi, this year I asked my diabetes consultant what my actual date was and when he looked through the file all it said was 1989 :wideyed: I know it was August, but no idea of the date and I was nearly 300 of miles away from home and diagnosed in North Tees General Hospital, thanks North Tees

I remember that date very well, we had snow here and it's also my birthday and we were both diagnosed in 1989 ( good you have an actual date) :wideyed::)

Thank god Tyson was fighting, i remember being let out of Milton Keynes hospital very late in the evening then went to my uncles after and he said who let you out lol. I only looked up that date earlier this year as i didn't have any other reference to my diagnosis except the boxing match :)

1989 was a good vintage :)

Lol. 3 decades near enough, hope to go for a few more at least.

Excellent vintage ( but, my Ex left in the January, leaving me and our two children) Still got lots of fight left in me for another few more decades :)
