Happy New year from Abu Dhabi

Hi friends.
I saw my Dr Monday,Im to have my gall bladder removed,I had blood tests.
Dr rang me today to say all tests were fine except for potassium levels which were 6.1.
Had to go for another potassium test today.
I have decided its not good to look up things on the internet.
Dr not concerned about my weight loss,as bloods show no problem.
Glad to tell you I feel ok,and trying not to panic about things.
I dont know if we will go to Spain in Febuary,Its a bit of a risk.

It's great to know that you are feeling better.
We all panic at times when our health is a concern.
Hope you do not have to wait too long for your operation and your G.P. looks after you well.

Sorry to hear that, Patricia. Good news though that all other bloods apart from potassium are fine and he isn't worried about your weight loss.

It's always stressful and worrying when you know you need an operation, and especially if they are removing something. See how you go with things before scrapping your Spanish trip - and it isn't the other side of the world. You can get home quickly if need be.

Hi @Patricia21

After having gallstone attacks ...I was just relieved to have my gallbladder out ...
After what you have experienced I think you to will find it a relief

I had mine done as day surgery , I was home by 5pm ....
But needed a good weeks rest afterwards ....

Really it will be ok , and is a good thing ....thinking of you , and wishing you all the best ...
Hope you don't have to wait t to long ....
Take care ..kat x

Hi Pat so glad you are getting it sorted,I try not to look up things on the net as it just puts the frighteners on me,My mum has just had her gallbladder out and she also had hers done as a day patient,we collected her at 8.00pm she had to have time off work and even she was surprised how great she felt afterwards.
Keep us updated xx

Patricia - Do you have an EHIC? It makes all manner of sense, whether you go to Spain this time, or not.

You're covered from the date of application, even if the card doesn't arrive in time for any travel.

Thanks AndBreath.Yes we do have them.
It was tried out last year when my husband got gout,He had to show his passport and card,
He was seen by a Dr and got a jab in his bottom .We had to pay a small amount for medication.
I dont know how it works if you go in hospital.
Its my daughters villa we are going to ,Im going to find the nearest hospital before we go.

My understanding is that you "enjoy" the same benefits as a local would. So, if there's a co-pay arrangement, you pay the same as the local. I'm sure there'll be something on the pesky interweb.

I could ask my OH, as he spent some time in Spain, but he's busy enjoying himself in the sunshine. ;)
