Hi Everyone,Please can anyone help with a problem that my partner developed shortly after commencing Victoza over a year ago. He has a very sensitive stomach to drugs causing diarrhoea and tummy aches so GP took him off Metformin etc and now he is just on Victoza.
Initially he seemed to be doing well :) with lower sugars and weight loss. However he developed this extremely foul wind and when he burps it smells like pooh,I apologise if this seems crude but l am really concerned that something more sinister might be going on :( . He had his Victoza increased 2 months ago and the pungent smell increased along with stomach cramps and diarrhoea. His next diabetic appoint is March and he refuses to see GP before then.
I would be very grateful for any info, Thank-you.

Hi Cezzie

Foul smelling wind has been blamed on Victoza but it would be sensible for your husband to visit his GP as the symptoms he has could have a number of causes.

Regards

Doug

Oh yes, and then some with both ends ... I have created a new word to describe the lower version "carbondibackside"
After a while the burps do ease right off but the lower carbondibackside only eases to about 50% so I often nip outside to check the gardens whilst I relieve the back pressure

Hi, I have been victoza since febuary 2011 , have been lucky to not have any side effects at all whilst in this medication. It totally agrees with me well.
No smelly wind at all. Having said this, I do get strong strange smells in my nose in various places and enviroments. NO its not me either!
When I was on diabetic tablet meds I had this ability to smell odd smells, so its no different even now.
Anyone else have this ?
Anna. :D

OMG !! i have just joined this and i cant belive you are talking about something that has plaged my life for so long!! But i have now been made to realise that it is due to Thrush in my mouth that goes down to my tummy, apprently it is something that can effect diabetics.
It was suggested i try Yakult or something similar and also natural Pro biotic yoghurt and within 3 days it worked and i havent looked back.
I had the wind and horrendous foul burbs for around 4 yrs now and no one could tell me what it was, i went to the Dr and was told 'it happens' it was just by chance on one of my many internet trails that i found out about thrush diabetic and yakult.
it is high in sugar but hey the bad breath is so much worse.

carbondibackside

You mean carbondibackside, right?

Seriously - if I eat a curry and sneak in some nan/chapati/popadum, the smell of the wind is unbearable.

Leave out the carbs, and the wind is reduced to just being horrible...
