I'm just past the 40 year mark as a T1. I'm 45 and was diagnosed at 5. I confess I've had quite a lot of eye problems (all the laser I'm allowed on my left due to lots of bleeds culminating in a vitrectomy 2 yrs ago due to an old blood vessel tugging on the retina causing lots of haemorrhages), i had a heart attack requiring a stent in March this year and now have coronary heart disease, my kidney function is on the high end of normal but does cause me high blood pressure but other than that I'm fighting fit and feel i am blessed with a strong constitution. I would say a lot of that is down to my own bad management at times of my levels but there's plenty of life in the old dog yet ;-) You just have to keep a really positive attitude and try your best whilst you just get on with it. You're doing great, don't let it stop you.
