Has anyone used the Dario meter with their phone?

Facebook must know I'm diabetic! I get these ads from Dario Health for a little glucose meter kit and I ordered one: little bitty meter that plugs into the charging port on an Android or iPhone, 50 little strips, and a pricker all come in a little hard case. You download the app on your phone and it keeps track of your blood sugars, does some carb count thing, and will let you share your results with up to 4 people. It will even alert someone if you're low, and they say it will show them where you are via GPS. The starter kit was $40 (plus $8 shipping). I ordered it yesterday. They don't mess with insurance. There was some offer on there for strips at 25 cents apiece, I don't know if you have to authorize automatic shipments to get that. I think the retail price for strips is 40 cents. Has anyone else bit on this offer yet. Sounded cool to always have a meter with me as long as I carry the little plastic container.

Facebook is sneaky, I'm in the UK and it seems to know I'm diabetic too, I've seen that ad! I'll be interested to know what you think of it. It'd have to be really good though as the test strips are twice the price of my code free ones!

Had either of you looked on a diabetic Facebook page before the adverts appeared?
I know when looking for tv stations for the football I did get a lot of sites advertising on my page

@TheBigNewt, I've been using the Dario for over a year now as my sole meter. It's an excellent piece of kit and I wouldn't be without it. Less bulk to carry around is so important to me and this meter ticks every box.

I'm glad you've got one and are finding it useful:)

I was on an early adaptor trial for this a couple of years ago. When the trial was complete I didn't carry on with it. I liked the fact that it is small, but didn't care for the fact that I couldn't test my bloods if I forgot my phone, or it was out of change.

OK, I'm T2, so missing tests is less critical to me, than a T1, but, at the point, I was in a critical learning period.

Enjoy, TheBigNewt.

And how much do they charge for the strips? Do you have to agree to accept a shipment of a certain number per month? I use TrueTrack meters and strips which cost me $20/100. I don't have the kit yet.

£14.95 for x50 @TheBigNewt. Although the NHS do provide these strips on prescription for insulin dependant diabetics in the UK.

That's not a bad price. When I ordered the starter kit they asked my how often I test (4 times/day) and a box popped up saying I could get them for .25/strip USD. I didn't pursue it to see how many/how often I had to agree to buy because I haven't used the thing yet. I like how small it looks, no screen on the meter your phone is the screen. What phone to you use it with?

In the UK, the majority of strips tend to sit somewhere between £14-£16 mark - so it's not badly priced in comparison.

I use the Dario meter with my Galaxy S7.

OK I just got my kit. Looks pretty slick, the little plastic box serves as the pricker, the little box of 25 strips has a slot at the other end, and the plug in meter pops out of the middle and plugs into the headphone jack on my Samsung Galaxy S6 Android phone. My first test read 117 and when I checked using my "usual" meter it was 158. There's no "calibration" or reference solution to use so I guess I'll have to just "see how it goes" compared to my usual meter from here on out.

Second test was the same on both meters: 55mg/dl. They refer to the use of a control solution but I'm not in possession of any of that with the introductory offer kit.

Has anyone tried the Dario with an android phone and usb c adaptor - for phones with no headphone socket? Does it still work?
Hi Simon and welcome to the forum.
You have asked your question on an old thread so you may not get a response. Indeed a couple of the commentators here are no longer members anyway. It might be better to start a new thread of your own to elicit a better response.
