I have been low carbing for 3 weeks now - successfully!!! Today I gave myself a break. I had a low carb breakfast, then I had the in-laws over for afternoon tea. Sandwich and scone with jam and cream.....(told you I had a low carb and sugar free break!!!) 2 hrs later bs was 18.5!!!!!ouch!
My question is...I am determined to get my hba1c in November below 6.5. Has this one off high reading blown my chances, of reaching this?

No meds, just diet.

You look like a candidate for the 80/20 technique, but it's probably better at 90/10 for diabetics. This means. Stick rigidly to the rules for 90% of the time and lighten up ( just a bit) for the other 10%. Knowing you have that 10% calculated in there. makes the 90% easier and you don't slip right off the wagon. Just make sure the little slips are really little ones.
Little slips occasionally, won't wreck that HbA1c.

thanks sarah and hanahdr
The 90/20 technique seems a good one...a little life line!! The eclairs are a good idea, must remember that one!!!
Its such a relief to know Ive not blown it! My bs after 4 hours were 4.9! Seems such a drastic drop from 18 four hours previously!!

Am I really sad to hear the good news about eclairs being ok as an occasional treat?

hehehehe ... must be living a sad sad life!

Ps - THANK YOU!

off to Morrisons now ;)

Bought some eclairs today. Just eating one now.........mmmmmmmmmmm. Will let you know how my bs go.
Morrisons own frozen eclairs have 5.8g of carbs per eclair. Ive had a low carb tea, so hopefully my bs wont be effected too much!
