Have really scared myself now...

Any more advice for low carb eating in la belle France.

We go down to the med near Montpellier every year and eat out.

Sardines I can do, Moules (sans frites) I can do, but what do I buy for when on the beach? Paninis and lovely French sticks filled with ham and cheese won't do it this year. I can do the camembert and ham I suppose. At least there is a marche every few days, but can't keep the food fresh.

In Carnon, there is a supermarche - any suggestions?

Well, I tend to buy a pain au cereals at the boulangerie (not sure what the equivalent in the UK is but it's a very brown bread with embedded cereals and sometimes ground nuts depending on the baker) and have that with some nice artisan butter and as you suggest ham and cheese with some avocado and lettuce thrown in for good measure, it's really good and the bread doesn't seem to cause me any problems. I won't touch the white bread here as it's apparently the worst for blood sugar levels.

we holidayed Near Nontron 3 times and visited Lussac twice I think.
Different Lussac I think. We are in a very small hamlet with just one other resident as the other two residents both died a couple of years ago and our main town is Chalus and the nearest main city is Limoges where the hospitals are. Actually, Nontron is not that far away from us and I think the town you went to may have been Lussac-les-Eglises

Both Nontron and Lussac are about 45 mins to 1hr away from us, just south of Angouleme. Small world uh ! ! ! Nice part of the country though.

We used to shop in Angouleme. Supermarket may have been Carrefour?. Got stuck at the roundabout for about half an hour once while a huge convoy of foreign legion went through.

Its still there, on the Soyaux roundabout. We usually shop there if we have to go to Angouleme for any reason.
